Community Newsletter

Community newsletter made with South People's Projects

Farafara 1st edition for Refugee Week 2005 We have now worked with South People's Projects to make two community newsletters.

The newsletter, named 'Farafara', is produced as a means of encouraging community involvement and informing people of the N&DRSG's activities and other opportunities in Newport and surrounding area.

Edition 1, June 2005, Refugee Week

Click to see Refugee Week Wales website The first edition of the newsletter was produced to accompany the events prmoted by the group during Refugee Week.
This edition was produced thanks to funds from Refugee Week. Unfortunately there are no more copies of this edition left.

Edition 2, September 2005, Promoting Adult Learning

We were able to produce a second edition thanks to funds from NIACE Dysgu Cymru as part of the 'Sign Up Now' campaign. For more about this project please click here to go to the relevant pages.

The newsletter, doubled to 8 pages, contains personal accounts of refugees who have benefited from learning and information about projects and incentives in Newport. Contents include:

• RISE – the Learning Network in Newport
• Wastesavers - cheap furniture for refugees
• Ta'aleem Alnyssa - women's story building project
• Welsh Assembly Refugee Inclusion Policy - focus groups findings
• Enterprising Art - getting the skills and experience to sell art and craft

For copies please email aled.singleton@newport.gov.uk with your address.

The electronic version will appear soon.

Future newsletters

Each newsletter takes a couple of weeks to prepare copy and costs at least £400 just to print. In the future we hope to make newsletters as and when funding is available. Please email Aled or Norbert on norbertmbu@yahoo.fr with ideas or offers of help.
