Students'
refugee film
Jan
'05 - Newport students' film project
In the summer of 2004 a group of students from the University
of Wales, Newport approached the group wanting to make a film
about the life of an asylum seeker. Over the past five months
Alex, Juan and Golkou have have worked hard with volunteers
and refugees in Newport to make their story as accurate as
possible.
The group completed their script, found actors and film crew
before Christmas; filming for the Light in Shadow
project is due to start in February 2005. As they are final
year students with little cash they are now looking for some
money to help them buy film stock, transport equipment and
feed the people who are due to act! They have had the following
media coverage in an appeal to find some funding for their
film.
The film is about a female asylum seeker who becomes destitute.
