for Refugees
What is available?
Newport has resources that are tailored to the needs of refugees
and asylum seekers.
English Education:
ESOL is available to both refugees and asylum seekers. It
is provided at Charles St Community Education Centre and NASH
College at the City of Newport Campus. The Welsh Refugee Council
also stage ESOL classes.
The drop in and other activities also provide the oppotunity
to meet with people who speak different languages and learn
more English.
IT Classes:
The Welsh Refugee Council hold classes at their centre. These
are available to refugees and asylum seekers.
The Drop In also has use of a computer, click
here for more information. Two
hours, weekly Drop In.
.
The Weekly drop in is a thriving and
productive few hours where Refugees and Asylym seekers, whether
alone or with their families can meet and participate in a
safe and friendly atmosphere. Here everybody is given
the opportunity to participate, create, learn and teach with
each other and the support workers. All are welcome
to take part to meet people, make Arts
and Crafts, Music, and use Information
Technology. Families can especially enjoy having a place
where their children can meet and play with other children.
As the parents can get involved in the creative activities
their children can also play with the many toys that
are provided. Here people are free to:
