What is available?









Newport has resources that are tailored to the needs of refugees and asylum seekers.









English Education:


ESOL is available to both refugees and asylum seekers. It is provided at Charles St Community Education Centre and NASH College at the City of Newport Campus. The Welsh Refugee Council also stage ESOL classes.

The drop in and other activities also provide the oppotunity to meet with people who speak different languages and learn more English. 

IT Classes:


The Welsh Refugee Council hold classes at their centre. These are available to refugees and asylum seekers.

Two hours, weekly Drop In.

The Weekly drop in is a thriving and productive few hours where Refugees and Asylym seekers, whether alone or with their families can meet and participate in a safe and friendly atmosphere.  Here everybody is given the opportunity to participate, create, learn and teach with each other and the support workers.  All are welcome to take part to meet people, make Arts and Crafts, Music, and use Information Technology. Families can especially enjoy having a place where their children can meet and play with other children.   As the parents can get involved in the creative activities their children can also play  with the many toys that are provided. Here people are free to:

Meet and discuss about every day things and issues with other Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Support Workers/Volunteers.
